Cricut Cutting Machine

Cricut MachineSeveral years ago I discovered the joys of scrapbooking.  I love creating memory books for myself and my family.  So, it shouldn't come as a surprise when someone asked me if I have a cricut cutting machine.  At the time, I had never heard of this, and thought she said "cricket."  As in the insect.  Because that is how you pronounce "cricut."  Boy, was I wrong!

Perhaps you are wondering, "What is a cricut machine?"  Simply put, it's a machine that looks a lot like a printer.  But, where a printer puts a picture onto paper, a cricut machine (also called a die-cut machine) cuts patterns or designs onto scrapbook paper.  The designs and patterns can then be added to various scrapbooking or craft projects.

Machines use cricut cartridges for design choice. The cartridges come preloaded with designs and patterns, and there are TONS of different theme and style cartridges available.  For those who may be wondering, you do not need a computer to use a cricut machine.

Here is a great video to introduce the many features and uses for a cricut electronic cutter:

I have found an almost endless use for the patterns I cut out with my machine.  I have the ability to choose the paper I want my designs on, so that my page themes match perfectly.  Some of the uses for your own cricut for include scrapbooking (of course!), making homemade greeting cards, creating party favors, and calendars.  This is just a few of the many things you can do with your own cutter machine.

There are a bunch of videos that offer cricut ideas, and I'll share them here on my blog as I find them.

Oh, and if you don't already know, cricut machines are made by provo craft.
